melissaAnne is the work of Brooklyn, NY photographer Melissa McClain. I am intrigued by the interaction of humans and nature to create “hidden” art. This hidden art presented as abstract photography with dramatic textures and colors has become a very prominent feature in my work.
My Water Colors and Urban Colors Photography Collections present everyday objects as colorful, intriguing works of art. Water Colors images are macro photography from boats and other nautical objects worn by water and the environment. Urban Colors are macro photography from various items found around urban environments. These Collections represent my love of photography, colors, and texture. They initially appear, perhaps, as paintings but could be called “nature’s paintings” because nature and time provided the texture and patterns that turn these ordinary objects into discovered art.
Water Colors and Urban Colors images are now being printed on fabric. melissaAnne Design Home Collection using the custom Water Colors and Urban Colors fabrics coming soon!
My ”recycled art” collage images are created using Water Colors Collection images digitally cut into various shapes and patterns to create whimsical scenes. Most of the “recycled art” characters are based on my nieces. There is a children’s book in my head with these images as illustration.
Making A Difference
I love photography and designing fabrics with the images but I’m realizing more and more every day that the real joy comes from seeing others connect with the images and create their own vision that touches them, my desire to inspire and help others follow their dreams, and making a difference in the world. These things fuel my passion in life! I was really inspired recently by an article on Kate Spade’s mittens and hats project with the organization Women for Women International. I hope to some day work with this organization to help make a difference in the lives of women, families, and communities through production of melissaAnne Design products.
The Water Colors Hope print is a dedicated fundraiser print with all profits going to the Nicki Cyrak Hope For A Cure Double Lung Transplant Fund. For more information about CF visit www.cff.org
